BIO

A native of Royal Oak, Michigan, Jeannette moved to Brussels in 1997 intending to stay three years.

Jeannette’s poems have appeared in Mslexia magazine (UK) and have been adapted for video. From time to time she performs at SpeakEasy: Spoken Word Brussels.

When she isn’t writing, Jeannette teaches yoga at Yyoga Brussels and works as Communications Manager for the International Wool Textile Organisation.

What is your greatest fear?  Being isolated.

What is your current state of mind?  Pretty calm, thank you.

What is your favourite occupation?  Daydreaming.

1What is your most obvious characteristic?  Physically? My hair. Personality? Nothing about me is obvious.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?  Lassitude.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?  Bossiness.

What is your greatest extravagance?  Beautiful clothes.

What is your favourite journey?  The one I’m making right now.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?  Disliking your appearance is a total waste of time. Don’t fall into this trap!

What do you consider the most over-rated virtue?   “Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.”

On what occasion do you lie?  If the situation isn’t really important and it will save someone’s feelings being hurt unnecessarily.

Which words or phrases do you most over-use?

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  I’d be richer.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?  Raising my daughters.

What is the quality you most admire in a man?   Freedom of thought.

What is the quality you most admire in a woman?    Freedom of thought.

How would you like to die?  Mindfully, with full awareness of the process, surrounded by people I love.

If you were to die and come back as a person or an animal, what do you think it would be?   I don’t know about person or animal, but I’m curious about what it’s like to be a deciduous tree.

If you could choose an object to come back as, what would you choose?   A window.

What is your motto, the words you live by or that mean a lot to you? 

Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu
