Tribute to Khalil Gibran

  • Boghossian Foundation - Villa Empain 67 Avenue Franklin Roosevelt Bruxelles, Bruxelles, 1000 Belgium (map)

Khalil Gibran is known worldwide for his spiritual book The Prophet. But what text from his work would he like us to discover today? For one evening, Roda Fawaz summons the renowned Lebanese poet to the Villa Empain for a journey into the unknown. Out of a selection of thirty texts drawn from the body of Gibran’s work, fifteen will be randomly chosen by the audience and read by the actor.

Khalil Gibran

“Chance’, it seems, is the name God takes to pass incognito. God, universe, life, call it what you will, but on that day, we will be in Gibran’s hands, at the mercy of the unknown and of life. What message will the poet deliver?” – Roda Fawaz

Roda Fawaz is a Belgian writer, director and actor of Lebanese origin. A graduate of the Belgian theatre school IAD, he has written and performed in four one-man shows that have been awarded a number of prestigious national prizes and received critical acclaim. His film and television credits include Les derniers Parisiens (2016), Le Bureau des légendes (2015-20), Unité 42 (2017-19), Bruxelles-Beyrouth (2019), Invisible (2020) and 1985 (2023). He will next be seen in the film La vierge et l’enfant by Binevsa Berivan and in Les pas perdus, a feature film he co-wrote and co-directed with Thibaut Wohlfahrt. He will be performing his one-man show On the Roda in Beirut at the end of 2023.
